Drifters and Divers on Sailing Vessel Bolongo

Meet the 4 of us

We're Reiss and Anouk, and our 2 boys. Four years ago we swapped a normal life on land for a 56-foot Dufour called Bolongo, and we've been figuring it out ever since.

Neither of us had real sailing experience when we started. We learned the hard way, mostly, through a lot of investigation, reading, following youtube channels, speaking to professionals and experiencing life aboard.

The boys have grown up on it, homeschooling between anchorages, making friends in marinas from France to Greece, treating boat work like it's just part of the day, because for them, it is.

We decided to create a place to put down everything we've actually learned, about the boat, about getting into this life in the first place, about doing it with kids, about the routes, so that anyone thinking about doing something similar has more to go on than we did.

We're not experts, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. We're just a family who left the routine, made a lot of mistakes, and kept notes.

This is us showing the real deal, what you need to know, to be able to run normal life on boat.

Figure it out with us.

"Figure it out with us. Everything we've learned the hard way, so yours doesn't have to be as hard."

WELCOME TO BOLONGO

A Symphony of Speed and Elegance on the High Seas

This beauty isn't just a boat—it's a masterpiece of maritime engineering, a vessel designed for those who crave the thrill of the open ocean. With a length of 56 feet and a center cockpit layout, she's spacious enough to accommodate our adventurous family of four, yet nimble enough to tackle the most challenging of waters with ease.

But what truly sets our Dufour 56 CC Prestige apart is her undeniable charm and character. From her classic design to her luxurious amenities, she's a true testament to the timeless allure of sailing. Whether we're racing against the wind or leisurely cruising along the coastline, every moment spent aboard is a reminder of the freedom and exhilaration that comes with life on the water.
