How we learn to apply ourselves..
a typical day aboard our trusty vessel, the wind in our sails and the sun on our faces. But then, out of nowhere, the skies darken, and the heavens open up in a deluge of rain. As the drops pound against the deck, I hear an ominous sound—a loud, sizzling noise that sets alarm bells ringing in my head.
Racing back to investigate, my heart sinks as I discover the source of the commotion: rainwater leaking through the deck and dripping onto exposed wires. In that split second, panic threatens to take hold, but I know I have to act fast. With lightning reflexes, I shut off all the electrics, praying that I've acted in time to prevent disaster.
Alone with my children, the gravity of the situation hits me like a rogue wave. We're teetering on the brink of a potential catastrophe—a boat on the verge of catching fire due to a power shortage caused by the rain. But there's no time to dwell on fear. I steel myself for the task ahead, knowing that I have to fix the problem before it's too late.

I soon realize that I'm in over my head. Desperate for assistance, I make a beeline for the nearest boat store, hoping to find a knowledgeable electrician who can lend a hand. To my relief, a helpful soul offers to come to my aid, assuring me that he's a seasoned pro when it comes to all things electrical.
Eagerly, I lead him back to our vessel, grateful for the expertise he promises to bring. But as he fumbles with the wires and mutters under his breath, it quickly becomes apparent that he's not quite the expert he claimed to be. In fact, it soon becomes painfully clear that he knows as much about electricity as I do—the basics, and not much more.
Frustration mounts as we struggle to make sense of the tangled mess before us, the minutes ticking by with each failed attempt to restore power to our boat.
